An accomplished architectural professional with years of expertise in architectural design, practice and research, Ms. Dhawan excels as the owner of Studio 144 Architects. Since establishing her practice in 2019, she has specialized in a diverse set of practice areas including: public and educational buildings, single-family and multi-family housing, commercial buildings, remodels, new construction, and more. In addition to assembling and overseeing teams of engineers, she collaborates with her colleagues on design and ensures compliance with requirements. Before founding Studio 144, Ms. Dhawan was an architect with Noll & Tam Architects and completed two library projects and several community college renovation projects as a project manager. Prior to that she worked at MEI Architects and she completed two large public multifamily housing renovation projects, as part of the MOH-RAD program in Phase 1 & 2.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Dhawan gained valuable expertise with Steinberg Architects, BAR Architects, IKBA Architects, Goldman Architects, Pfeiffer Partners, Nott & Associates, VIVID Magazine (Bucharest, Romania), and Tarr Architects. An expert in her field, she first earned a Bachelor of Arts in global studies from Azusa Pacific University in 2006. Subsequently, Ms. Dhawan completed a master's degree in architecture through the Academy of Art University and the University of Southern California. She holds professional certifications with a Living Future Accreditation (LFA) through the International Living Future Institute, and an architectural license through the California Architects Board.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Dhawan associates herself with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Oakland Builders Alliance, the California Native Plant Society, and the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR). In conjunction with her work, she has contributed to her community as the former director of the church Sunday School program, a longtime church choir member, a Board Member for the Neighborhood Council of her neighborhood, and as a volunteer mathematics tutor at the public elementary school her daughter attends. Throughout her career, Ms. Dhawan has contributed to several projects and was a featured correspondent for Vivid Magazine in Bucharest, Romania, and published with the Façade Tectonics Institute.

Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her professional network and not giving up when times are tough. Looking ahead, Ms. Dhawan intends to expand Studio 144's projects and impact to provide more community-based solutions that consider sustainability and resilience in design, and to expand her business size to teach others in architecture to do the same.
