In this capacity, she secured several preliminary agreements with third parties to build and confirm actuarial models. Likewise, she honed her expertise on housing insecurity through a 40-page Master of Public Policy thesis that proved the government fails to provide housing security and the need for an insurance-based model titled "Housing Insecurity: The For-Profit Solution to a Government Failure." Previously, she was a Principal Consultant for a public policy consulting firm, Sharakpur, Ltd, that works with domestic and international governments and government agencies. Ms. Buchanan studied the economic impact of social policy in Cuba and assisted in obtaining contract proposals for housing and tourism studies.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Buchanan gained valuable professional expertise as an MBA summer intern for the venture capital firm Atento Capital, as a DMV site coordinator for Food Rescue U.S. where she increased organizational efficiency through data mining and research, and as an assistant to Carolyn Cawley, the President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Over the years, Ms. Buchanan also interned for the Center for American Progress where she studied NAFTA and trade associations, served as a member of the Three Squares New England Board of Directors, and learned to engage with constituents through the Office of Governor Charles Baker.
An expert in her field, Ms. Buchanan studied early childhood education and history at Tulane University. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in public policy with minors in economics and in business studies from Bentley University in 2016. Subsequently, she expanded her professional knowledge, earning a Master of Public Policy in public policy analysis from Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy and a Master of Business Administration in innovation and entrepreneurship from Duke's Fuqua School of Business. In conjunction with her studies, Ms. Buchanan dedicated herself to her community as a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay mentor. She is a staunch advocate for women's rights and consistently donates to Planned Parenthood.
Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Ms. Buchanan authored "Poverty Alleviation in Nigeria: The Social Impact of Micro Finance is Greater than Foreign Government Fiscal Stimulus Packages" in the International Journal of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
