Originally dreaming of, and intent on, becoming a medical doctor cum physician, Dr. Misra attended a prestigious higher education institution in India. However, he quickly realized his passion for telecom engineering and communications. After completing a bachelor's degree, he began his career with Tata Group, Tata Teleservices & Tata Communications/Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited as a sea cable transmission and data switch engineer. Four years later, he transferred his considerable skill to his role as the director of transmission networking planning for Cingular Wireless AT&T. In this capacity, Dr. Misra oversaw operations and building for the end-to-end transmission network.
In the ensuing years, Dr. Misra expanded his professional knowledge, earning a master's degree in engineering and industrial management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in technology from Eastern Illinois University. Backed by his graduate degrees, he honed his expertise in project management, strategic planning, and more, in leadership and executive positions with Idea Cellular, Nokia Siemens Networks, MTS Group, and Nanotel Technologies. Driven to pursue higher education once more, Dr. Misra earned an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago and a PhD in operations management in electrical, electronic, and communications engineering technology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Drawing on his extensive technological knowledge and leadership skills, Dr. Misra served in many CXO related positions as CTO/COO/CEO for various companies. He is an expert in translating business strategies into KRA and KPI, which can further break down to action plans for achieving required results. Dr. Misra is an excellent leader who aligns teams to functional objectives, and enables them by forming the correct processes and systems. He never considered the possibility that his true calling in the startup ecosystem would be on the investor side. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Misra aligns himself with the World Human Rights Association in New York. In conjunction with his work, he contributes to his community as an EMT and ambulance driver. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, he has published numerous articles and books, including "8 Decades of Human Life: Moments and Memories." Throughout his career, Dr. Misra was also the keynote speaker at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain and he is also a Certified Life Coach and a podcaster on his favorite topic "Why Any Relationship Fails," which was published on NY radio channels and on Spotify.
Dr. Misra received the World Human Rights Association Award in light of his outstanding work. In 2023, he received the highest Indian civilian awards as an Indian American; the Bharat Guarav Shri Samman Award and the Rashtriya Padma Bhushan Samman Award. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in taking risks and handling failure gracefully. Another standout aspect of his career has been making startup companies successful. Personally, he is proud of his family and children. The cornerstone of his success lies with his wife, parents, friends, mentors, and all those who have supported and influenced him throughout his life. Looking toward the future, Dr. Misra intends to work on his dream project, a startup company called Cooly. It will aim to assist travelers by making it easier to check their luggage by picking it up from homes and dropping it off at destinations as well as performing home check-in's. Dr. Misra believes this will increase customer satisfaction by not forcing people to stand in airport corridors for hours.
