Mr. Goetzinger's tenure at Tacoma Community College from 2004 to 2016 stands out as a significant chapter in his career. Initially serving as an instructional coordinator, academic advisor, and supplemental instruction leader until 2007, he subsequently advanced to the role of assistant director, academic advisor, and retention specialist. His most notable achievement during this time was his involvement with the United States Department of Education Trio Program, which supports economically disadvantaged students, those with disabilities, or first-generation students. Mr. Goetzinger considers this experience a highlight of his career due to the profound impact he had on guiding these students toward their goals.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Goetzinger has been a member of several organizations, including the College Reading and Learning Association, the Highline College Paralegal Association, and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletes, among others.
Mr. Goetzinger's educational journey began at Highline College, where he earned an Associate of Arts. Following this accomplishment, he went on to attain a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences, with an emphasis on politics and government, from the University of Puget Sound, and a Master of Public Administration at the University of Idaho. Further enhancing his credentials are numerous certifications ranging from business communications to security officer training. These academic achievements have played a pivotal role in equipping Mr. Goetzinger with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in various roles throughout his career.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Goetzinger has served as a legal assistant for the Housing Justice Project of the King County Bar Association, and as a law enforcement officer for the Puyallup Tribe.
