He and his wife also successfully ran a small business, The Poppin' Box, LLC, in St. Augustine, Florida, selling gourmet popcorn, fudge, and candy. An expert in his field, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Marietta College and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from La Roche University. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge, completing a PhD in human resources management and services from the University of Texas at Tyler and becoming a senior certified professional through the Society of Human Resources Management. Additionally, Dr. Aller studied Human Resources at Carnegie Mellon University.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Aller aligned himself with the Academy of Human Resources Development, the Texas Retailing Association, the Society of Human Resources Management, and the HR Certification Institute. Through his corporate and academic careers, he has experienced many career highlights, including playing a key role in establishing the University of Houston, Downtown's School of Retail, receiving the Team Leader – Walmart NPAC Business Case Award, and earning The Silver Coin Award from Georgia Southwestern State University seven times. Dr. Aller was also recognized for Excellence in Faculty Advising for Outstanding Student Advisement. Dr. Aller is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, which recognizes the top graduate students from top graduate programs. Since joining academia, Dr. Aller has been an important part of the success at GSW in the MBA growth and maintaining AACSB accreditation. Dr. Aller's career is recognized for impressive performance and contribution. Still, nothing may represent his leadership more than the many promotions that have happened for others with his intense focus on metrics and associate development. At one point, 50% of the Regional Directors in the Fortune 1 Company Walmart came from his reporting relationships. Looking toward the future, he intends to foster the growth of the MBA and Master's Degree in Computer Science programs at Georgia Southwestern State University.
