Her journey with the University of Michigan began in 2011 as an assistant coach before she ascended to her current role. Before joining the University of Michigan, Ms. Virtue was deeply involved with USA Volleyball. Since May 2017, she has been an integral part of the Women's National Team and served as the director of the National Team Development Program. In this role, she was instrumental in rebranding the High-Performance Program during the COVID-19 pandemic and developing innovative ways to scout youth athletes. Her efforts have significantly contributed to the program's success and its ability to nurture future champions. Ms. Virtue's coaching career also includes tenures as an associate head coach at Northwestern University from 2016 to 2018 and as an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati from 2007 to 2011. Notably, she was also an athlete with the Women's National Team from 2005 to 2006, showcasing her versatility and commitment to volleyball. From 2017 to present, Ms. Virtue has been an assistant coach with the U.S. Women's National Team; the team earned a Gold Medal in Tokyo 2020.
Ms. Virtue's academic background has played a crucial role in her professional achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2005 and continued her graduate education at Loyola University Chicago in 2007. Further enhancing her leadership skills, Ms. Virtue obtained an Executive Leadership Certification from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2018. Her educational pursuits have equipped her with a deep understanding of sports science and management, which she has adeptly applied to her coaching career.
Ms. Virtue is deeply committed to continuous growth and excellence. Outside of her demanding career, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and watching engaging shows. Looking ahead, she has set ambitious goals for herself and her teams. She aims to win another medal for the USA Volleyball Women's National Team at the upcoming Paris Olympics and is determined to elevate the University of Michigan volleyball team to a national stage with a consistent ranking among the top teams.
