Mrs. Orbin currently serves as the Grants Manager at the Hanna Community Center in Lafayette, Indiana, a role that encapsulates her expertise in grants management, compliance, and youth education. In this capacity, she is responsible for researching grants at both local and national levels, liaising with local funders to determine eligibility for specific grants, creating proposals, and, among other objectives, working within designated deadlines to ensure success.
Prior to joining the center in 2020, Mrs. Orbin was the executive director of the Hanna Community Center and the Indiana Minority Health Coalition Director of Tippecanoe County. Prior to 2020, she served as the Assistant General Manager for the Lafayette Aviators where one of her focuses was on the creation of the Non-Profit of the Night. Each role was a stepping stone in Mrs. Orbin's career journey, showcasing her versatility and growth in various sports management and community engagement facets.
In addition to her primary career goals, Mrs. Orbin authored an article in The Sports Journal. The article is titled 'Having the Edge – Sport Sponsorship Sales' and addresses how any sports organization can succeed in sponsorship sales.
Aside from her professional ventures, Mrs. Orbin is deeply committed to giving back to the community. As a domestic violence survivor who was initially unaware of available resources, she has made it her mission to educate individuals and families about the support they can access. Mrs. Orbin has also been the founder and chief executive officer of The GNOME Project Inc. in West Lafayette since 2023, which promotes youth education via mobile libraries and childcare tuition assistance for local youth programs. Among other involvement, she is a professional member of the Indiana Black Expo Inc., an Indiana-based nonprofit devoted to serving as a voice and vehicle for the social and economic advancement of youth and families within the state.
Mrs. Orbin's academic background has been pivotal in her professional development. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Animation from the Illinois Institute of Art in 2005 and a Master of Science in Recreation and Sports Management from Indiana State University in 2015. Moreover, Mrs. Orbin received several professional designations, including certification as a Community Health Worker through Health Visions Midwest in 2021 and certification in Nonprofit Executive Leadership through the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in 2023. She is also recognized as a Six Sigma Yellow Belt through Purdue University since 2021.
