From 2009-2016, Ms. Stiff was the training and professional development manager at the Florida State Board of Administration, where she designed curriculum, facilitated workshops and analyzed organizational needs. From 2005 to 2007, she contributed her skills as an editor for the Herald-Tribune Media Group in Sarasota, Fla, coaching her staff to handle articles in print, broadcast, and online. Additionally, Ms. Stiff imparted her knowledge to students at historically black Florida A&M University, where she was assistant professor and placement and internship director. She also taught as a visiting professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 1997 and 2000 and served as a consultant for Rapid Change from 1995 to 1997.

Ms. Stiff's academic background laid a solid foundation for her illustrious career. She earned a master's degree in higher educational leadership from Florida State University in 1994 after earning her bachelor's degree in political science and English from the University of South Florida.
Throughout her career, Ms. Stiff has been recognized for her contributions to communication and education. She was named Top Female Communicator of the Year by the Tallahassee Chapter of Women in Communications in 1995 and Professor of the Year at FAMU for the 1994-1995 academic year.
