Before launching Bachstein Consulting, LLC, Mr. Bachstein was instrumental in contract awards from the U.S. Army, USSOCOM, the Department of Homeland Security, and other federal Law Enforcement agencies. These include the M17/M18 Modular Handgun System. His career in testing and evaluation began at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center, where he worked as a test director from 2008-2013. In this capacity, he evaluated and approved various new products for soldiers, ranging from sniper rifles and grenade launchers to ammunition and optics. These systems were employed in Iraq and Afghanistan in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
Mr. Bachstein's journey into his profession began with a dream of becoming an aircraft designer and engineer. This aspiration led him to attend the Aerospace Engineering program at Pennsylvania State University, where he first engaged with defense contracts. This path eventually steered him towards a career to provide next generation systems to improve the lethality of our US soldiers. Mr. Bachstein received a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Military Studies in 2008. He also completed Master's level coursework in Systems Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, Mr. Bachstein obtained certificates from the Defense Acquisition University, including Test and Evaluation Level III, Program Management, and Systems Engineering.
Adding to his success, Mr. Bachstein has been a member of the joint technical and firearms committee for the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI). He has contributed to the approval of new cartridge designs and testing standards. Outside of his professional life, Mr. Bachstein enjoys coaching sports, such as Crossfit and youth Soccer.
Mr. Bachstein's contributions have not gone unnoticed. He received nominations for many awards along the way, including the Groak Award and the Fasig Award from the U.S. Army, accolades that underscore his dedication and impact within the testing community.
