    TALLAHASSEE, FL, May 13, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert W. Taylor, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Taylor has established himself as a preeminent figure in the field of soil and environmental chemistry through an extensive career in academia and research. Currently serving as a professor of soil and environmental chemistry at Florida A&M University, he has dedicated his professional life to advancing the understanding and effective application of soil science. Before his current role, he availed himself to Florida A&M University students as the dean of the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences and director of Land-Grant programs. In this capacity, Dr. Taylor oversaw significant growth and development in research, teaching, and experimental sites related to agriculture.

Dr. Taylor's career began after completing his education, with early roles including senior agronomist and soil scientist at the Bahamas Agricultural Research Training and Development (BARTAD) Center. He subsequently contributed his expertise at Tennessee State University research Co-investigator from 1979 to 1981 where he also served as the Head University Soccer Coach before embarking on a long-standing tenure as Professor from 1981 to 2006 and dean of the School of Agriculture and Environmental Science at Alabama A&M University from 2006 to 2011. During his tenure at Alabama A&M University he for 2 years as a visiting scientist at the National Science Foundation as Program Officer and also acting Deputy Director of the Division of Biological Infrastructure in the Directorate of Biological Sciences. Throughout his career, Dr. Taylor has also contributed to the academic community as an associate editor for the Soil Science Society of America Journal from 2009 to 2014. He also served as chair, Soil Chemistry Division (S-2) of the Soil Science Society of America, 2002-2003.

Before embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Taylor studied agronomy at Tuskegee University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. Following this accomplishment, he received a Master of Science in soil microbiology at Michigan State University, where he graduated with a PhD in soil and environmental chemistry. Beyond his professional and academic endeavors, he has been recognized for his contributions with several prestigious awards, including being named a fellow of the Soil Science Society of America and the American Society of Agronomy. He also received the Morrison-Evans 1890 Outstanding Scientist Award. Throughout his professional career , he has published more than 200 scientific publications. His work led to significant achievements, such as playing a pivotal role in Florida A&M University's acquisition of 3,800 acres of land at Brooksville, Florida from the USDA, making the largest land decretal to an 1890 historically Black University in the nation.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Taylor is deeply committed to his community and personal interests. He served as a volunteer youth soccer coach for club soccer organizations from 1982 to 1992 and holds a position as vice chair for the Tallahassee Urban League. He served as an assistant soccer coach at Michigan State University (6 years), head coach at Tennessee State University and volunteer youth soccer coach for club soccer organization in Huntsville, Alabama from 1982 to 1992. In the present day, his passion for soccer remains a cherished pastime.

Looking ahead, Dr. Taylor is focused on contributing further to the scientific community by publishing several books on topics relevant to his field and continuing his research on soil composition in the Bahamas.
