Dr. Lohr has been honored with numerous Best Resident Teacher Awards, several awards from Lexington Memorial Hospital, and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award.
LEXINGTON, NC, May 13, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lloyd Lohr has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Inspired by his father, a physician; his sister, a pharmacist; and his brother, a pediatrician, Dr. Lohr was driven to pursue a similar path. Intent on pursuing a career in obstetrics and gynecology due to its combination of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and short- and long-term health management, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in three years before beginning his MD studies at his alma mater. At his father's behest, he first interned in pathology and then did a one-year residency in general surgery. Then he honed his expertise as a flight surgeon in the Second Marine Air Wing in Cherry Point, North Carolina. Around this time, he also finished aviation medicine training at the U.S. Naval School of Aviation Medicine. In the ensuing years, Dr. Lohr completed his MD, an internship, and two residencies through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Over the years, Dr. Lohr gained valuable expertise in obstetrics and gynecology through Lexington Memorial Hospital, the Women's Center of Lexington, and Lexington Medical Center. Dedicated to parlaying his considerable knowledge to others, he also served as a residency program instructor for over a decade. Outside of his work in medicine, Dr. Lohr owns Granny's Farm, where he raises horses and cattle and grows hay, corn, and soybeans.
Driven to stay abreast of ongoing industry changes, Dr. Lohr aligned himself with several organizations, including the Davidson County Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association, the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Robert A. Ross OB/GYN Society. Devoted to his community, Dr. Lohr also contributes to a local children's camp through a chapter of Kiwanis International.
Given his professional achievements, Dr. Lohr has been honored with numerous Best Resident Teacher Awards, several awards from Lexington Memorial Hospital, and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the highest civilian award in North Carolina. Likewise, he was named a Marquis Who's Who Top Doctor and a Marquis Who's Who Top Professional. While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Lohr takes the most pride in being featured in Awards Magazine, delivering over 10,000 babies, and his work on female urinary incontinence because it changed the lives of many.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Dr. Lohr credits his success to his laid-back attitude and his upbringing on the family farm. Although retired, he intends to remain an OB/GYN and deliver fewer children because he loves what he does. Ultimately, Dr. Lohr aims to leverage his life's work to mentor the next generation of medical residents.
