ORMOND BEACH, FL, May 13, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jerry Lampe with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Jerry Lampe celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by years of professional experience in education, administration, research, and more, Dr. Lampe excels as a self-employed academic adviser of language and culture, leveraging years of expertise in international affairs, linguistics, language pedagogy, and Arabic and Islamic studies. Previously, he was the senior academic advisor for the Arabic Overseas Flagship Program at the American Councils for International Education. Between 2008 and 2018, he developed, advised, and evaluated Arabic language programs in the Middle East and North Africa. Over the years, Dr. Lampe served as deputy director of the National Foreign Language Center, senior research adviser with the Center for the Advanced Study of Language, and director of the Center for Occupationally-Specific Language Instruction and Internships Abroad.

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Lampe gained valuable expertise in Arabic and Islamic studies, English education, and language translation through various roles with Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, the Center for Arabic Study Abroad, the Peace Corps, the U.S. Department of State, and the White House. Before establishing himself professionally, he received a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and government from American University. Subsequently, Dr. Lampe expanded his professional knowledge, earning a Master of Arts and PhD in international relations and Islamic studies from Johns Hopkins University and an advanced certificate in Arabic from the Middle East Center for Arabic Studies.

Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Lampe has authored several publications, including "Intercultural Communication, Curriculum Development, and Assessment" in the "Handbook for Arabic Language Teaching Professionals in the 21st Century." Along with other industry scholars, he also co-wrote "Interagency Language Roundtable Skill Level Descriptions for Competence in Intercultural Communication" and "SAIS Readers in International Affairs: Advanced Arabic."

In conjunction with his work, Dr. Lampe is chair and executive board member of the Ormond Beach Historical Society's MacDonald House Museum Committee. Through his previous role as president, he oversaw finances and sought out grants. Given his professional accomplishments, he won three Lifetime Achievement Awards and the Mellon Scholarship to study Arabic in Lebanon. While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Lampe takes the most pride in emphasizing correct grammar, creating skill-level descriptions and intercultural communications that were adopted by the United States government, and co-chairing a committee with the Interagency Language Roundtable.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Dr. Lampe credits his success to his ability to remain objective in various situations and successfully communicating with people from many cultures. Looking toward the future, he intends to pursue more work in language and culture. Dr. Lampe's ultimate goal is to establish a museum in conjunction with the Ormond Beach Historical Society.
