One of his most notable achievements during this time was his leadership in building a battalion-sized element from scratch at the fourth aviation support brigade out of Fort Carson, a feat not accomplished by the Army in three decades. This task showcased his exceptional ability to manage complex challenges, growing the unit from three to 700 personnel and serving as the acting battalion executive officer.
Following his military service, Mr. Haugaard joined Northrop-Grumman as a subcontract administrator from 2017 to 2020. In this role, he managed subcontracts crucial for the B-2 Spirit program, demonstrating his adeptness in negotiation and project management. His transition from military to civilian procurement roles highlights his versatile understanding of both sectors' acquisition regulations.
Mr. Haugaard's academic background includes earning a Master of Arts in homeland security from the American Military University in 2014 and a Bachelor of Science in America, U.S. law, legal studies, and jurisprudence from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2011. These educational achievements have been foundational to his success, providing him with critical thinking skills and a deep understanding of security and legal principles. His time at West Point instilled in him the value of perseverance and humility, which have guided him through various challenges throughout his career.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Haugaard is actively involved in civic organizations such as volunteering for Senator John Thune in 2017, participating in the Boy Scouts of America and the Civil Air Patrol, being an Eagle Scout, and contributing to Branches Church in Oklahoma City. His commitment to community service is further evidenced by his receipt of several awards, including recognition as a Distinguished Honor Graduate during his Advanced Individual Training in the Army in 2005 and the Congressional Gold Award and the Carl E Mundt Award.
