GARDINA, CA, May 17, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert "Rob" Wayne Stewart currently serves as the Associate Manager – Government Compliance at L3Harris, San Leandro and Menlo Park CA, a position that is new to him, but not without extensive experience. Leading up to his present role, he studied to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, Information Services, from the California State University at Los Angeles. During this time, he earned recognition as an outstanding student and appeared on the Dean's List.
This was following his military service in the US Army as a Helicopter Tech Inspector in Viet Nam and the Army Reserve at Los Alamitos, where he was responsible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, combat damage repair certification and safety of flight.
During the first part of his career, he was involved in Logistic Engineering and Support of Lockheed Aircraft, having served as production lead and subsequence field service, having been provided with logistic training at the University of California at Los Angeles. During his years at Lockheed, he received many awards and Letters of Appreciation, including promotion and monetary awards.
Having been selected by Lockheed Management for Lean/Six Sigma training and certification as a Black Belt, he was able to effect cost savings on multiple projects, one of which was included in Aviation Week Magazine, dated 12 July 1999. Given his success in bringing positive results to projects he selected, the DCMA Commander of Dobbins AFB, where Lockheed was resident, requested his assistance on several problems the government faced. Success brought recognition in the form of selection for "Leading in Excellence Awards" in 2003 and again in 2005. These were joint DCMA and Lockheed Management awards.
From there he was recruited by a company in south Florida which produced thermal batteries for Raytheon, Boeing, Aerojet, Lockheed Missiles, and others. They had failed their PMSA for several years in a row and were informed that this was their last chance before their contracts were cancelled. Mr. Stewart developed a 104-page, all-encompassing procedure, performed the first contractor self-assessment and passed the annual PMSA for the 6 years he was there.
From there, he was hired by BAE Systems to support their Bradley R&D Engineering in San Jose, CA and the just-beginning Howitzer production in Elgin Oklahoma (adjacent to Ft Sill), ensuring success in going from low-rate to award of full-rate howitzer production.
He was then hired by Northrop Grumman for their Space Operations government contract support in Redondo Beach CA, but his family refused to move to the LA area. It was then that the Associate Manager opportunity opened, close to his home in San Jose. He was impressed by what would be his co-workers and accepted the position.
