Mr. Mankowski has established himself as a respected figure in geology and hydrogeology, with a career spanning over two decades. As the vice president of geology at WSP since 2023, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the company's geological and environmental characterization and remediation projects and initiatives. His tenure at WSP is marked by significant achievements in conceptual site model development, conceptual remediation design, and managing complex environmental contaminants such as chlorinated solvents and PFAS.
In addition to his current role, Mr. Mankowski honed his skills and knowledge as a senior geologist at Wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions from 2006 to 2023. In this capacity, he led numerous projects that contributed to his reputation as an expert in his field. Before that, he worked at Inland Seas Engineering as a staff geologist and geophysicist from 2005 to 2006, where he laid the groundwork for his future successes. He also taught aspiring geologists at Michigan Technological University from 2003 to 2004.
Mr. Mankowski's commitment to his profession is further evidenced by his active membership in the American Institute of Professional Geologists. This affiliation underscores his dedication to staying abreast of industry developments and contributing to the broader geological community.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in applied geophysics from Michigan Technological University in 1999, Mr. Mankowski earned a Master of Science in geology from the same institution in 2003. His natural curiosity and desire to think outside the box have been instrumental in his success. Mr. Mankowski's interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving reflects his understanding that collaboration across various scientific disciplines is essential for innovation.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Mankowski is deeply involved in his community through various civic associations. He has been the coach for Suttons Bay Middle School and Varsity Soccer teams since 2019 and as a teaching volunteer at Leelanau Montessori since 2016. His leadership roles extend to serving as the board chair and former area coordinator for the Leelanau Soccer Club since 2010 and as a board member and chair for SEEDS from 2008 to 2016. His commitment to community service and academic achievement were recognized with the MAGS Distinguished Thesis Award from Michigan Technological University.
