Mr. Noetzel has earned distinction in the fields of cybersecurity and incident response, currently serving as a senior advisor for cyber exercises at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) and its predecessor companies since 2009. In this role, he manages a team of 28 men and women in support of the Department of Homeland Security, demonstrating his expertise and leadership in the field. Before being acquired by GDIT, Mr. Noetzel was a cyber security analyst at SRA International and CSRA from 2009 to 2015, where he honed his skills in analyzing and mitigating cyber threats. His career also includes a tenure as an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. from 2004 to 2008, further solidifying his reputation as an expert in cybersecurity. Notably, he was the Deputy Director of the team that organized the first national-level cyber exercise, Cyber Storm, in 2005.
Mr. Noetzel's military service is a cornerstone of his professional background. He served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 2004, retiring at the rank of colonel. Throughout this time, he distinguished himself as a pilot and through a variety of assignments including Headquarters Pacific Air Forces (HQ PACAF) and the Office of Net Assessment at the Pentagon, where he contributed significantly to national defense strategies and operations. Mr. Noetzel's academic background laid the foundation for his successful career. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the United States Air Force Academy in 1975, followed by a Master of Science in chemistry from the University of Michigan in 1982. Furthering his education, he obtained a Master of Arts in advanced airpower studies from the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Air University in 1992 as part of its inaugural class. Since then, he has also become a certified ethical hacker via the EC-Council in 2016, underscoring his commitment to staying at the forefront of cybersecurity practices.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Noetzel has been actively involved in civic associations. He served as an elder at Immanuel Bible Church from 2007 to 2017 and is associated with the Fellowship for Performing Arts. His dedication to community service is complemented by his receipt of commendation medals, recognizing his contributions both in military service and civic involvement.
Transitioning to his personal life, Mr. Noetzel's interests include genealogy and participating in church activities. Looking ahead, he aims to play an integral role in his grandchildren's lives while continuing to mentor young professionals embarking on their careers, reflecting his commitment to family and fostering the next generation of leaders in his field.
