Mr. Wetherbee takes the most pride in battling through his own spinal cord injury with the help of numerous caregivers while serving as a positive light for others in similar positions.

LOUISVILLE, KY, May 29, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Matthew Wetherbee has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

While earning a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology and sports management from James Madison University, Mr. Wetherbee began his career as an intern with Chatham A's and James Madison University's Athletics Marketing department. Upon completing his undergraduate degree, he received a master's degree in sports leadership from his alma mater. He began working as an intern with Celebrity Marketing, Inc. Subsequently, he was hired by Celebrity Marketing as a marketing associate and gained valuable expertise in sports marketing as a client services manager. Over the years, Mr. Wetherbee coordinated celebrity appearance fulfillment, marketing, and sales initiatives, as well as nonprofit events. He also worked with NHL Hall of Fame Ray Bourque & New England Patriot Rob Ninkovich to plan and manage their celebrity golf and ping pong tournaments.

After many years in sports marketing, Mr. Wetherbee suffered a personal setback, suffering a spinal cord injury in 2016. In the ensuing years, he underwent multiple therapies and participated in several research trials. Through his recovery, he discovered that many spinal cord injury treatments are not covered by insurance. Driven to help others in similar situations, he established the MW Fund, which provides therapy grants to cover costs at spinal cord injury facilities. As president, Mr. Wetherbee runs the organization with a budget of $250,000 annually, manages fundraising events, and liaises with other companies to secure support. Since inception in 2018, the foundation has issued $350,000 in grants.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Wetherbee takes the most pride in battling through his own spinal cord injury with the help of numerous caregivers while serving as a positive light for others in similar positions. Another standout moment in his life was being pushed by his wife in the Boston Marathon and receiving a donation of $25,000 towards the therapy facility that he attended. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his wife, a support group in Boston and Louisville, and having access to therapies. Looking ahead, Mr. Wetherbee aims to expand the MW Fund and turn it into a foundation that generates millions of dollars annually. Additionally, he would like to play a more active role in another organization or for-profit company.
