Before joining Lonza Pharma & Biotech, Dr. Maouyo had a successful career in academia. He honed his expertise at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where, as a senior research scientist, he conducted groundbreaking research that contributed to the advancement of medical science. Previously, he enriched the academic community as an assistant professor at the same institution, fostering a collaborative environment for learning and discovery. His journey also included a role as a research associate at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he laid the groundwork for his future contributions to medical research.
Dr. Maouyo earned his doctorate in biology with a specialization in animal physiology from the University of Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, graduating in 1994. This was preceded by a master's degree in natural science from the University of Benin in Lome, Togo, which he obtained in 1985. These academic achievements laid the groundwork for his illustrious career, equipping him with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his field and contribute meaningfully to scientific advancements. His postdoctoral fellowships further shaped his professional path; he completed a fellowship in cell physiology and molecular biology and another in molecular microbiology, focusing on factors of virulence at Universite de Montreal. These experiences provided him with a solid foundation in his field, enabling him to make significant contributions to science and medicine.
In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Maouyo has been actively involved in various industry-related organizations, such as the Knowledge Foundation and the Parenteral Drug Association. His leadership skills were also evident during his tenure as president of the Johns Hopkins Postdoctoral Association.
