She was the co-founder of the Central New York Chapter for the Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and held various executive positions on the board, receiving the first ever award for "Outstanding Contributions" to this Chapter. Additionally, she has been a clinical member of the New York chapter of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy since 1990 and the National Mental Health Association since 1982. Aside from these memberships, Ms. Hartman Brenizer has remained active civically as a member of the Mental Health Association of Onondaga County advisory council since 1993, has been involved in several other committees and causes, such as the Guidance and Counseling Advisory Council, and has dedicated time to rescuing and adopting abused animals who have been mistreated or abandoned. She was a part of the Guidance and Counseling Advisory Committee at her children's high school for many years.
Her proudest achievement, in addition to her career, is having and raising two quite successful children with a "hands on" approach to parenting. As well, she has been blessed with four grandchildren.
