Marquis Who's Who Honors Gargi Adhikari for Expertise in Special Education and Science

Gargi Adhikari is honored for her extensive accomplishments as a teacher of students with disabilities and her accomplishments in the field of science



Ms. Adhikari was named the Hunterdon County Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 academic school year and the Governor's Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year.

    WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ, May 29, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gargi Adhikari has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Adhikari has established herself as a distinguished professional in education, particularly in science and special education. Since 2012, she has contributed her expertise as a Hunterdon County teacher with the New Jersey Department of Education. This role underscores her commitment to public service and education at a broader level. Ms. Adhikari's career in education spans over two decades, beginning as a special education teacher at Holland Brook School in 2002. Here, she dedicated herself to teaching and leading mathematics and science classes while addressing the unique needs of her students. As a reviewer for the National Science Foundation, she was one of the six panelists to review applications for PAEMST (Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching) K-6th grade awards for science.

Parallel to her role in Hunterdon County in the Readington Township school district, Ms. Adhikari has been an instructional coach at Rekindle Education since 2023, where she has played a pivotal role in shaping math teachers' teaching experiences in New Jersey. Her responsibilities encompass various activities to foster an inclusive and effective learning environment. These include preparing classrooms, reading with children, teaching mindfulness, consulting with school teachers on different social and emotional learning competencies, and ensuring that special needs students receive appropriate accommodations and support.

Significant achievements and recognition mark Ms. Adhikari's professional journey. Since 2023, she has served as a VOYA national STEM fellow, a foundation program reflecting her contributions to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.

Ms. Adhikari is highly educated, having earned a bachelor's degree in geographic information science with minors in earth science and environmental science from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 2006 and a master's degree in special education from Kean University in 2014. Ms. Adhikari attributes her achievements to her continuous pursuit of knowledge and willingness to step out of her comfort zone for personal and professional growth.

Deeply involved in professional organizations that outline her active participation in the field, Ms. Adhikari has served as a member of the elementary advisory committee for the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment-Science for the New Jersey Department of Education since 2012, as a member of the Special Needs Advisory Board for a four-year term, and as chair for the same board for the National Science Teaching Association for a one-year term.

In light of her success in education, Ms. Adhikari was named the Hunterdon County Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 academic school year and the Governor's Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. She aspires to further impact education by sharing her expertise with other educators and influencing policy decisions to benefit future generations.
