He also taught as an assistant professor and served as an interdisciplinary clinical study director between 2003 and 2010.
Dr. Abboud was subsequently recruited to Stony Brook University's School of Dental Medicine where he served as the Founding Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics and Digital Technology from 2011 to 2016. In this capacity, he oversaw the following advanced education programs: Prosthodontic & Digital Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, and Endodontics. Recruited by the University of Kentucky's College of Dentistry, Dr. Abboud spent another three years as a Full Professor and Associate Dean of Digital Dentistry until 2019.
Dr. Abboud's extensive research spans approximately 20 years and has focused mainly on implant and bone regeneration. Honoring his contributions to the healthcare field, Dr. Abboud has been the recipient of research awards from the National Institute of Health and other organizations. He has notably disseminated his work in more than 60 professional publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. As a result of his research, Dr. Abboud has secured numerous patents in his field, which are currently being utilized in the industry both locally and internationally.
