SPERRYVILLE, VA, June 07, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Roger Pierson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Roger Pierson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A seasoned engineer with a proven track record of success in solving technical and organizational problems, Mr. Pierson began his career as an electronics technician for Pulse Communications Inc. in 1974. Subsequently, he honed his leadership expertise as a quality assurance and production supervisor for Geotronics, Inc. In the ensuing years, he worked for such companies as Unified International Inc. and Acuity Systems Inc. before earning a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Maryland in 1984. Backed by his hands-on industry experience and education, he served his alma mater as a computer engineer and eventually joined the University Research Foundation as a senior engineer.

From 1987 until his retirement in 2024, Mr. Pierson focused on designing high-speed digital circuitry and developing a network and methodology that efficiently sorted information from military aircraft. This groundbreaking work ensured that pilots would receive crucial mission-planning data promptly, a testament to his commitment to enhancing safety and efficiency in the field. His contributions extended beyond design, as he also installed recorders on F-18 aircraft and maintained a twin Cessna aircraft used for Enhanced Vision Systems. His expertise was further recognized when he implemented testing for Elbit Systems' follow-on product, ClearVision.

Due to his vast knowledge, Mr. Pierson has co-written several publications through the U.S. Department of Justice, including "Analysis of Flashes Recorded by an Infrared Sensor," and "Long Wave Infrared Muzzle Flash Duration Experiment Test Report." An early example of his academic work, and subsequent career in the field of parallel processing can be found in: "Weiser, Mark; Kogge, Steve; McElvany, Michelle; Pierson, Roger B., Post, Rehmi; and Thareja, Ashok; Status and performance of the Zmob Parallel Processing System; Computer Science Department, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, 1985." Likewise, Mr. Pierson has obtained numerous patents and authored articles in several professional journals.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Pierson aligns himself with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. In conjunction with his work, he has also contributed to his community through the Boy Scouts of America and the Washington Baptist Church.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Pierson received the Vigil Honor conferred by the Order of the Arrow, the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America and the Community Builders Award from the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to the diverse and interesting work he has done throughout his career. After having visited the highest point in each of the 50 states, and climbing in the Himalaya of Nepal, Mr. Pierson looks forward to completing the Appalachian trial and perhaps climbing Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica.

Mr. Pierson is proud of his two sons, Daniel Pierson of Richmond and Benjamin Pierson of Sperryville, Virginia, both eminently successful in their chosen careers.
