With considerable expertise in academic modalities, Mr. Romero is noteworthy for his development of Space Islands, a long-distance, online educational program honored at the forefront of its industry as one of the first programs of its kind in the United States. Space Islands was nominated by Senator Hilda L. Solis for California State Resolution number 4058, which was awarded in July 1996 for its outreach efforts and long-distance educational program. Placement in the Library of Congress was awarded the same year for Mr. Romero's program, which led to pioneering work with more than 2.3 million students and teachers across 40 nations. After successfully founding and implementing Space Islands, Mr. Romero was retained by JPL NASA as a consultant between 2002 and 2004.
