Ms. Urbancik's journey toward better health was not easy, but it empowered her to embrace a new and exciting culinary experience. After struggling with myriad health issues for years, she embarked on a new diet free of gluten, dairy, processed sugar and eggs. Eager to turn this moment of adversity into opportunity, she began working with a functional medical doctor, who helped her transform her lifestyle. As a result, Ms. Urbancik discovered alternative ingredients and started experimenting with plant-based milk, sweeteners like honey and dates, and substitutes for eggs like flaxseeds and chia seeds. After spending hours in the kitchen developing recipes for granola, banana bread, pumpkin muffins and doughnuts, she had compiled 60 successful recipes that cater to different categories like breakfast treats and snacks.
Prior to founding No Sugar Momma in 2019, Ms. Urbancik spent nearly 25 years with Exelon, a Chicago-based public utility company, where she climbed the ranks from communications and change management analyst to director of cybersecurity and infrastructure projects. During her tenure at Exelon, she was highly valued as a staff member, earning three Exelon Excellence Awards in 1995, 2000 and 2013. Earlier in her career, she held positions with ComEd and YMCA, as well as serving as a newspaper reporter for the Daily Vidette and as a photographer and studio technician for TV10 News. Additionally, she worked as an instructor of speech communication and television production at Illinois State University.
Ms. Urbancik holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a master's degree in communications, both from Illinois State University. Building upon that solid educational foundation, she earned professional designations as a Project Management Professional, Certified Health Coach, Certified Life Coach, and Reiki Master, and she is currently pursuing a Woman-Owned Business Certification.
In her free time, Ms. Urbancik loves spending time outdoors, especially kayaking and hiking, as well as baking and reading health and wellness books. An active member of her community, she serves as vice president of the McHenry County ECO Farm and volunteers with Body and Brain. Above all, she loves connecting with her customers and helping to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health.
In the coming years, Ms. Urbancik seeks to expand her network by connecting with like-minded businesses. Her ultimate goal is to engage supporters of No Sugar Momma, including retailers, customers, and other business owners, to collectively decide where to invest the company's profits.
