Dr. Mark D. Semon has over five decades of experience in the field of education, specializing in various areas of physics, such as relativity, quantum mechanics, and classical and quantum electrodynamics. He served as a professor of physics at Bates College from 1988 to 2017, having initially joined the institution in 1976 as an assistant professor. Since retiring in 2017, he has maintained the title of professor emeritus at the college. In his other endeavors as an educator, Dr. Semon formerly served as a visiting professor at Amherst College between 1988 and 1990. He originally began his career in 1970, working as a research assistant at the Kitt Peak National Observatory.
