An award-winning entrepreneur and expert in meat smoking, Mr. Eifert is distinguished as the owner of The Alpine Wurst & Meat House, a premier manufacturer of German sausages, cold cuts, and meats that has been a mainstay in its community for 47 years. In his role, Mr. Eifert is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the beloved family business, including sausage-making, meat smoking and managing inventory alongside his wife Gretchen.
Mr. Eifert's journey in the meat industry began with an apprenticeship with his father, an East German native and the original owner of the business. As he learned the trade alongside his father and other experts in Germany and New Jersey, he honed his skills in butchering and sausage-making. When his father eventually retired in 2008, Mr. Eifert and his wife Gretchen were proud to take over The Alpine Wurst & Meat House and kept all its famous recipes and products alive.
As a result of Mr. Eifert's skillful leadership, both he and his business have been the recipient of several notable recognitions. Among these, the Wayne County Economic Development Council presented him with an Innovator of the Year Award, and Meat&Poultry Magazine named the business Independent Processor of the Year. Additionally, The Alpine Wurst & Meat House is a two-time awardee at IFFA, the leading international trade fair for the meat and protein industry.
As a commitment to his industry, Mr. Eifert is an active member of several professional organizations. These include the American Association of Meat Processors, the Pennsylvania Association of Meat Processors, the Greater Honesdale Partnership, the Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau, Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance, the National Federation of Independent Business, and the National Business Association.
