Before joining his firm, Mr. Rein was a partner at HMB Legal Counsel in Chicago between 2011 and 2024, where he honed his skills in asset recovery and commercial litigation. From 2008 to 2011, he was affiliated with Dykema Gossett PLLC, specializing in workouts and litigation for financial institutions, commercial litigation, and international asset recovery. Mr. Rein's career also included a significant tenure as a partner at Schwartz Cooper Chartered between 1985 and 2008 and an associate position at Berger, Newmark, & Fenchel from 1982 to 1985.
In preparation for his remarkable career in law, Mr. Rein earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Washington University in St. Louis in 1978 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Miami in 1981. He has been admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, State of Florida, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals, the Northern District Court of Illinois, and the Eastern and Western District Courts of Michigan.
Mr. Rein's professional affiliations reflect his commitment to excellence and continuous learning. He is actively involved with several industry-related organizations, including as the subcommittee chair for the commercial business litigation section of the American Bar Association, and memberships with the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Rein has also contributed to the legal community through various legal publications.
Apart from his legal career, Mr. Rein has made significant contributions to civic life. Most notably, he is a past president and honorary board member of the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago since 2008.
