Marquis Who's Who Honors Andy Talley for Expertise in Sports Education and Nonprofits

Mr. Talley has carved out a distinguished career in college football and beyond, culminating in his role as president and chief executive officer of the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation. He is immensely proud of his work with this foundation. Through Mr. Talley's efforts, over 280,000 young people were added to the bone marrow donor list, significantly increasing the chances for those in need of a transplant to find a match.

Before founding the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation in 2010, Mr. Talley established himself with a significant tenure in the role of head football coach of the Villanova University Wildcats from 1985 to 2016. Under his leadership, the Wildcats clinched the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision national championship in 2009. This victory was a testament to Mr. Talley's exceptional coaching skills and his ability to inspire and motivate his team. Recognized for his outstanding contributions to college football, he was named national coach of the year twice.

Mr. Talley's career before his time at Villanova University included time as the head football coach of the St. Lawrence University Saints, as an offensive backfield coach for the Brown University Bears and the Middlebury College Panthers, and as a defensive secondary coach for the Springfield College Pride. His professional journey began at Simsbury High School, where he served as an assistant coach. Each of these positions helped Mr. Talley strengthen his reputation as an excellent leader with the ability to encourage the young athletes on his teams.

Education played a pivotal role in shaping Mr. Talley's career. He earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Southern Connecticut State University in 1967 and followed it up with a Master of Education from the same institution in 1969. These academic credentials laid the foundation for Mr. Talley's successful career in coaching and his subsequent philanthropic endeavors.

Mr. Talley's dedication to community service has been recognized with numerous awards including the volunteer of the year award from the Laurie Strauss Leukemia Foundation in 2009 and the collegiate award from the National Marrow Donor Program in 2008, among others. His contributions have also earned him induction into several halls of fame including the Pennsylvania State Hall of Fame and the Southern Connecticut University Hall of Fame. In 2020 Coach Talley was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Outside of his career and nonprofit work, Mr. Talley is a dedicated father and a proud father to two children. Looking ahead, he is focused on expanding and strengthening the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation while seeking a successor to continue his legacy of service and compassion.
