NEWARK, DE, June 17, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Matthew Schlecht with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Matthew Schlecht celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A seasoned business owner with professional expertise in chemistry, medicine, biotechnology, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and more, Dr. Schlecht excels as the owner and technical translator for Word Alchemy Translation, which specializes in English to German, Japanese, French, and Spanish translation, technical writing, editing, and proofreading services. Previously, Dr. Schlecht oversaw the scaling up of pharmaceutical intermediates and drug candidates as a research chemist with CB R&D/Beard Research Inc.

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Schlecht gained valuable expertise as a senior research chemist in agricultural products for E.I. DuPont de Nemours and as an assistant professor of chemistry at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn. An expert in his field, he earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1975. Subsequently, Dr. Schlecht expanded his professional expertise by completing a Master of Science and PhD in chemistry from the prestigious Columbia University and postdoctoral research in organic chemistry through the University of California, Berkeley.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Schlecht aligns himself with several organizations, including the American Chemical Society, the Society for Technical Communication, Sigma Xi, Phi Beta Kappa, and the American Translators Association's Science and Technology Division. Due to his vast knowledge, Dr. Schlecht has served as a reviewer of scientific manuscripts, judged many local science fairs, and translated numerous works, including "Laboratory Diagnostic Pathways: Clinical Manual of Screening Methods and Stepwise Diagnosis."

Given his outstanding achievements, Dr. Schlecht has won several postdoctoral research grants through the National Institutes of Health. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in writing "Molecular Modeling on the PC," during his transition from academia to the private sector. Despite being geared toward computer enthusiasts, the book was widely used by everyday chemists.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Dr. Schlecht credits his success to his steadfast determination and his mentors, Carol Clark, his fifth- and sixth-grade teacher, Barry Trost, a chemistry professor from the University of Wisconsin, and Gilbert Stork, his PhD mentor at Columbia University. Looking ahead, Dr. Schlecht intends to devote more time to his valued clients and spend more time with his family as he slowly winds down to retirement.
