For over 20 years, Ms. Goldman has helped clients in her local community prepare their tax returns, specializing in personal tax returns, small corporation tax returns, and S Corporation payroll. Having begun preparing taxes for clients during the early 1990s at H&R Block, she subsequently branched out to establish her own accounting services firm, Goldman Tax and Payroll, in 2003. Since then, Ms. Goldman has earned consistent praise from her clients, who continually refer new customers to her well into the present day.
Outside of her work in tax preparation, Ms. Goldman is also an accomplished violinist who, in 2005, co-founded the Orchard Lake Philharmonic's (OLP) orchestra with her friend, Judith Moslak. Ms. Goldman has been a violinist with the orchestra for nearly two decades, playing first and second violin. She has been the organization's treasurer since its founding, and also served as the business manager for all but two years.
Ms. Goldman's musical odyssey with the violin began in fifth grade, ignited by her brother's influence. Then, a new music teacher, Gabriel Villasurda, came in the sixth grade; he taught Ms. Goldman through high school and she took private lessons from him from sixth through eleventh grade. Music even led Ms. Goldman to meet her husband — the two met on stage during a community theater production, where they were both showcasing their musical talents.
Ms. Goldman's greatest obstacle came in the spring of 2009, when she was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. She was treated with six rounds of chemotherapy in 2009 and 2010 and, in her own words, "beat the Grim Reaper three times." Looking toward the future, Ms. Goldman anticipates retiring from her tax preparation business, but will continue to play her violin with the philharmonic. Until then, she will continue to educate clients about financial matters with a goal of not only giving tax advice but also enhancing their understanding of their investment activities. With many clients remaining loyal for over 25 years, Ms. Goldman now extends her services to their children, ensuring they receive the same level of care and attention their parents experienced under her guidance.
Ms. Goldman attributes her success to her organizational prowess and how she effectively allocates time to accomplish tasks. This meticulous planning, a skill she inherited from her father, a revered psychiatrist, has become a cornerstone of her approach to life and work.
