Prior to his current role, Mr. Wietecha served as the founding president and chief executive officer of the Children's Hospital Association from 2011 to 2023. Before joining the Children's Hospital Association, he was a senior partner and executive chairman of the board at Kurt Salmon (now part of Accenture) from 1985 until 2011. His early career included a stint as a senior sales representative at Upjohn Company from 1982 to 1983.
Mr. Wietecha is also recognized for his involvement in various industry-related organizations. He has held positions such as a director and former chairman of the board at Virtual PICU Systems since 2012 and served as a trustee for the Council of Teaching Hospitals at the Association of American Medical Colleges from 2013 to 2023. His leadership roles extend to being a trustee and chair of the Health System Board of Overseers at UCLA from 2013 until 2015 and serving on boards in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Wietecha's academic background laid the foundation of his professional success, beginning with a Bachelor of Science with High Honors in biology from Grand Valley State University in 1979. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in pharmacology from the Ohio State University in 1981, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University in 1984. Additionally, he completed postgraduate executive business education at Harvard University. He attributes his success to his passion for his work and the continuous learning it entails.
