Marquis Who's Who Honors Sonia Ratto for Expertise in Marketing and Advertising

Ms. Ratto is a distinguished professional with over two decades of experience in brand and communications strategy. Since 2021, she has led the shopper marketing strategy for Motive: A Project Worldwide Agency. She has built the shopper marketing strategic expertise of the agency and has been pivotal in winning new clients and contributing to the agency's revenue growth in shopper and retail marketing. Ms. Ratto has provided breakthrough retailer activations for Pepsico in North America, in the mass, grocery and convenience channels. She has also guided the comms planning for integrated campaigns across PR, advertising, digital, social, content, influencers, partnerships, retail and experiential.

Ms. Ratto's career started auspiciously at Ogilvy & Mather Paris, in 2002, where she coordinated advertising campaigns for IBM across four European markets and advertising campaigns for American Express and Nestlé in the French market. She then moved on to Carré Noir/Publicis France, where, from 2006 to 2010, she was a senior strategic planner, working closely with the new business department, helping to acquire new clients and develop the agency's offering in design trends and consumer intelligence. In 2010, she was hired by TBWA/Integer France as their Insights and Strategy Director for shopper marketing, creating and leading the department. She recruited and managed strategists and diversified the client portfolio of the Paris office by helping to acquire Michelin Truck & Bus, Absolut Vodka and Schneider Electric as new clients. She contributed to the agency's double-digit growth and helped to double the number of employees. In 2013, she joined the headquarters of The Integer Group in Denver, Colorado, where she brought her global expertise. She led the shopper marketing strategy for Johnson & Johnson Vision (Acuvue) at the US and Global levels. She was also pivotal in helping to win the global retail businesses of Starbucks.

You might say that Ms. Ratto had been unconsciously preparing for her career since her childhood on Reunion Island and in Africa, which exposed her to multicultural multitudes and piqued her curiosity about people and their behaviors. In terms of formal education, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from Sciences Po Lyon (France) in 1994, a Master's degree in Public Law from the University Jean Moulin (Lyon) in 1995, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing from EM-Lyon International Business School (Lyon) in 2002.

Through her parents' examples, Ms. Ratto got the message that education was key to a woman's intellectual progress, and she developed a voracious hunger to learn and an equally insatiable curiosity about the world. It is because of her own experience as an immigrant, as well as her parents', that Ms. Ratto has felt called to mentor entrepreneurs from underserved communities, an effort she plans to expand in the future.
