Prior to her current role, Ms. Silver-Elliott was the president and chief executive officer at Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason, Ohio, from 2007 to 2014, where she laid the groundwork for her future success in this sector by implementing programs that significantly improved resident satisfaction and operational efficiency.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Silver-Elliott earned a bachelor's degree in television and radio from Ithaca College in 1975, completed master's degree studies in communication arts at Cornell University in 1976, and earned her master's degree in professional studies in health care administration from Central Michigan University in 1984. These degrees have been instrumental in equipping her with a broad skill set that includes strategic communication, leadership, and health care management.
Ms. Silver-Elliott's leadership extends beyond her executive roles. She has been an influential figure in several key organizations within the aging services community. She served as board chair for the Association of Jewish Aging Services and continues to serve on the AJAS board. She was the chair of the LeadingAge national board from 2020-2022, during the challenging times of COVID-19, and helped to provide critical support and connection for members navigating the pandemic.
Ms. Silver-Elliott frequently contributes to the field through thought leadership as a blog writer for the Times of Israel. She has spoken at both national and international conferences on issues of elder caring, aging and self-care. Ms. Silver-Elliott also writes a regular personal blog called "With a Full Heart," which focuses on her reflections about life and leadership. Looking ahead, she aspires to grow both her writing and speaking and continue to help create change in the world of elder care. Outside of her writing endeavors, Ms. Silver-Elliott values her time with her husband and their family. She is also a certified yoga teacher and particularly loves sharing yoga with older adult populations.
In light of her accomplishments, Ms. Silver-Elliott has been recognized with a number of awards for innovation and lifetime achievement from LeadingAge New Jersey/Delaware, LeadingAge Ohio, and the Association of Jewish Aging Services.
