Previously, Mr. Ventrone helped achieve the goals of furthering affordable housing and reforming the mortgage finance industry through top federal agencies, private sector positions, and on Capitol Hill during Democratic and Republican administrations. Ventrone served as the Vice President of Federal Policy and Industry Relations for the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Mr. Ventrone gained valuable expertise as a senior policy adviser for the Federal Housing Finance Board, a senior policy adviser, and housing programs officer for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and deputy staff director for the House Financial Services Committee. Through his work with Congress, he drove efforts to pass federal housing, mortgage finance, and urban affairs legislation, including the American Home Ownership and Economic Opportunity Act of 2000, the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act, the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act, and the Homeowners Insurance Availability Act. Mr. Ventrone also established the Committee on Affordable Housing and Health Care Facility Needs of Senior Citizens.
Before establishing himself professionally, Mr. Ventrone earned a Bachelor of Arts from Curry College. Subsequently, he expanded his knowledge by completing a Master of Public Administration in urban affairs at American University. Outside of his work, he contributes to his community as a commissioner for the Arlington County Housing Commission, a North Rosslyn Civic Association board member, and a Coalition for Federal Home Loan Bank Reform member. Likewise, Mr. Ventrone authored articles in professional journals and a book: " In the Hood- A Pictorial Essay."
While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in his competitive nature. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his sucess through connecting the dots in a bipartisan fashion, through transparency and a strong spirit of cooperation and collaboration, successfully bringing folks to the middle, time and again.
In the coming years, he intends to publish a book about his journey and experiences titled "Perception is Reality: The Ups and Downs of Pennsylvania Avenue." He resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife of 36 years, Jeanne Broyhill.
