Under Dr. Mbanfu's leadership, the organization has seen significant growth and expansion, both in terms of its workforce and the scope of its impact. Prior to him joining the agency, it initially staffed less than 25 staff members. Now, through his guidance and vision, the team has expanded to over 50 dedicated professionals. Such growth is a testament to Dr. Mbanfu's leadership abilities and his dedication to empowering individuals and families seeking refuge.
Leading up to his tenure at the International Center of Kentucky, Dr. Mbanfu was actively involved with several other civic-minded organizations. He served as the program manager at the Lutheran Services of Georgia Inc., from 2011 to 2013 and as an employment coordinator at the International Rescue Committee between 2006 and 2011. In each position he has held, his educational background has played a pivotal role in his success.
Most recently, Dr. Mbanfu earned a Doctor of Education in leadership of professional practice from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023. Beforehand, he obtained a master's degree in diplomacy with a specialization in international conflict management from the Norwich University School of Graduate and Continuing Studies as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English in his home country of Cameroon. Along with his degrees, Dr. Mbanfu has enhanced his expertise, gaining certification in management essentials from Harvard Business School Online. Combined, these educational achievements have provided him with a solid foundation in leadership, diplomacy, and management, thereby enabling him to effectively lead his organization and make a profound impact on the lives of many.
