Debra Wingfield, EdD Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Counseling

Dr. Debra Wingfield lends years of expertise to her work with Wingfield House of Peace of Publications



While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in supporting domestic abuse survivors and advocating for them in family court.

    NASHVILLE, NC, June 24, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debra Wingfield has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Growing up, Dr. Wingfield faced many challenges including surviving father on daughter incest. She survived domestic abuse and coercive control as an adult. As her life progressed, she realized she wanted to help others avoid similar situations, culminating in her current work as an author, professional trainer, and expert case consultant for Wingfield House of Peace Publications. Through her company, she provides various trainings on domestic abuse, coercive control including victim and children's trauma issues, victims of domestic abuse and coercive control, offender treatment, impacts of coercive control on children, family court involvement with custody cases with impacts on coercive control victims and children, to name a few.

Her many years of counseling includes work with trauma survivors from all types of abuse, adult and child refugees fleeing persecution and wars from Vietnam, Chile, and the Soviet Union. These survivors continue to be supported by her today through her relationship with Called to Peace Ministries. She provides pro bono advocacy to safe parents and their children involved with the family courts.

Due to her vast knowledge, Dr. Wingfield has authored several books, articles, and training manuals, including "Eyes Wide Open: Help! with Control Freak Co-Parents," "Through a Child's Voice: Transformational Journaling," "From Darkness to Light: Your Inner Journey," and "Adult Children from Dysfunctional Families: A Psychoeducational Group Facilitator's Manual." Additionally, she has leveraged her expertise at numerous conferences regarding tips for parenting traumatized children, the effects and impacts of domestic abuse and coercive control on victims, coercive control pre- and post-separation, and toxic stress and its relationship to educational achievement and economic productivity. In addition to her work with Wingfield House of Peace Publications, Dr. Wingfield is a member of the training and mentoring team at the NPEIV Think Tank where she is actively involved in mentoring her younger colleagues.

Throughout her career, Dr. Wingfield has honed her expertise in mental health training, education, and more through Centennial Mental Health Center, the Pueblo County Domestic Violence Task Force, and Called to Peace Ministries. Likewise, she has parlayed her considerable knowledge to others at Regis University, the University of Colorado- Denver, the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Aims Community College, Colorado State University-Ft. Collins and Pueblo, and the Metropolitan State University of Denver.

An expert in her field, Dr. Wingfield earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of West Florida. Subsequently, she expanded her professional knowledge by completing a master's degree in counseling and organizational psychology from her alma mater and an EdD in counselor education from the University of Northern Colorado. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Wingfield aligns herself with Psi Chi and the American Counseling Association.

In conjunction with her work, Dr. Wingfield has contributed to her community through Aurora, CO Youth, Justice Assets Roundtable, the Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the Colorado Domestic Violence Legislation Committee. Given her professional achievements in the field of education, she was named Instructor of the Year through Regis University. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in supporting domestic abuse survivors and advocating for them in family court. Within the coming years, Dr. Wingfield intends to experience her career's continued growth and success.
