Prior to joining ZRG in 2020, Dr. Salig was the head of the Americas Life Sciences and Healthcare division for Boyden, an executive search firm with offices in more than 40 countries, charged with bolstering the life sciences practice in the New York and Miami markets. His career has also included stints as a managing partner with Ward Howell International and senior consultant to the chief executive officer with Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. In 2003, he spearheaded the launch of a joint venture with Dr. Reddy's in South Africa, growing the company from $500,000 in startup capital to cash-positive in 18 months and later the seventh-largest generic pharmaceutical company in South Africa.
As the head of Africa Operations for Hetero Drugs Ltd in South Africa, Dr. Salig's work was vital to the launch of startup distribution operations for HIV/AIDS antiretroviral medications in 15 African countries. He helped expand the company's reach into Thailand, delivering high-impact presentations to Ministers of Health and Finance and enabling the distribution of antiretroviral raw materials to the government.
Dr. Salig holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town in South Africa and earned his medical degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Medical School in Durban, South Africa. He holds a certification in "Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy" from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management, and has also been a registered medical practitioner in South Africa for more than three decades.
In both 2010 and 2012, Dr. Salig chaired the opening session at the Generic Medicine Industry Landscape conference in Washington, DC. His vast experience with the pharmaceuticals industry has allowed him the opportunity to present several white papers over the years at the World Generic Medicine Conference, including "Market Opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa," "Globalization of Indian Pharmaceuticals," and "Enlighted Capitalism in Pharma."
