ALEXANDRIA, VA, June 27, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mohammad Naeem, MD, FACR has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A Muslim American of Pakistani heritage, Dr. Naeem received his education internationally at the most elite British-styled institutions known for cultivating a sense of noblesse oblige among their graduates. After earning an undergraduate degree from Pakistan and emigrating to the United States in his teenage years, Dr. Naeem later returned to Pakistan to complete a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBBS) from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan- one of the most premier medical institutions in Southwest Asia established by the Victorian British Empire in 1860. Subsequently, he completed a Preliminary Medicine internship through Mount Sinai-Elmhurst Hospital Center and a residency in Diagnostic Radiology from Penn State University's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. In the ensuing years, he pursued two high-powered academic fellowships in abdominal imaging and chest imaging through the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver and the National Jewish Medical and Research Center, respectively. Backed by his considerable academic, educational and operational experience, Dr. Naeem gained valuable expertise in postgraduate medical education and resident teaching as an abdominothoracic radiologist and radiology residency program director at Madigan Healthcare System in Tacoma, WA, and as chief of radiology for the US Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany and a NATO-led Hospital in Afghanistan while working with the International Security Assistance Force.
As an ABR-certified diagnostic radiologist developing a penchant for disaster medicine over the years, Dr. Naeem honed his expertise not only in general diagnostic radiology but also in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives disaster preparedness and response through numerous unique, challenging, and high visibility assignments at several academic medical centers, government hospitals and community-based hospitals in the western US, Central Europe and eastern United States respectively.
In light of his outstanding achievements, he was declared the 2019 recipient of The Surgeon General's highest award for medical operational and academic excellence (MG Lewis Aspey Mologne award)- the first ever 'radiologist' to receive this most prestigious distinction. In 2018, he was inducted into the Order of Military Medical Merit. He also holds fellowships with the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Radiology, awarded to less than 10% of radiologists nationwide. He has been a guest speaker at approximately 50 local, regional, national, and international radiology, disaster preparedness, and CBRNE conferences in 12+ countries on four continents in the last 15 years.
Another standout moment in Dr. Naeem's illustrious career was proudly leading AFRRI- The Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, MD- a unique national asset housing the DOD's only research nuclear reactor and which is at the forefront of enhancing the radiological defense of the nation by developing radiation medical countermeasures and thereby preserving the American fighting strength in a future nuclear-contaminated battle space. Naeem is the first and only radiologist ever to lead this nationally eminent radiation research Institute.
The cornerstone of his success lies in his perseverance, hard work, tenacity, adaptability, and resilience. Looking ahead, Dr. Naeem intends to either pursue a Senior Executive Service position in the continuity of government, national security or disaster preparedness sectors; or in civilian academia with the goal of leading a major academic radiology department as a chair or disaster medicine faculty position in an internationally respected medical institute/university in North America, Australasia or the Middle East.
