Since 2022, he has led the company as an entrepreneur, engaging in peer mentoring and coaching for people serving in entry-level and career-switching roles, executive coaching of individual contributors and people leaders, public speaking, and program & project management. His extensive experience in the field spans over three decades.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Bumpas served as an information technology program manager at Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee. Previously, he performed as a senior information technology project manager at Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee through Rezult Group Consulting. His career also includes a tenure as a senior IT project manager at HCA Healthcare, a service delivery manager at Xerox, and chief information officer at Frederick Mutual Insurance Company. His professional journey began with a decade-long service in the United States Navy, where, as an aviation electrician and intelligence specialist, he developed a strong aptitude for solving technical problems across various domains. It was also in the military that he discovered his passion for helping people.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Bumpas is actively involved in several industry-related organizations. He is a member of the Nashville Black Chamber of Commerce, the Nashville Technology Council and the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Nashville Chapter, and previously served as vice president of communications in the organization's Central Virginia Chapter. His commitment to continuous learning and professional development is evident through his numerous certifications, including as a Project Management Professional via PMI, a Certified Scrum Master via Agile Alliance, and a Six Sigma Black Belt from DuPont.
Mr. Bumpas' educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in information systems from Almeda University in 2002, and a Bachelor of Science in information technology and information assurance from Liberty University in 2017.
In addition to his professional and civic engagements, Mr. Bumpas has co-authored "Triumph in the Trenches: Navigating Success for Black Professionals," which explores strategies for achieving success in challenging work environments. He is also dedicated to giving back to the community through his involvement with various civic-minded organizations, such as the Nashville Adult Literacy Council, the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, Creative Girls Rock, and Wounded Warriors. In recognition of his contributions as a community member, he was named Father of the Year by the Shiloh Baptist Church of Roanoke Virginia in 2000.
Mr. Bumpas attributes his success to his practice of self-reflection. He believes in the saying "As a man thinketh, so is he," and takes time each week to reflect on his accomplishments and areas for improvement. This habit has been instrumental in his personal and professional growth. Outside of his vocational efforts, he enjoys reading, spending time with his family, visiting vineyards, working out, and spending time with his dogs.
Looking ahead, Mr. Bumpas plans to grow his business and diversify his revenue streams while ensuring financial stability for his grandchildren's education. He also aims to complete building his dream retirement home in Mexico within the next few years. Although he does not plan far into the future due to the ever-changing nature of opportunities, he envisions retiring within a decade while continuing to make meaningful contributions through his coaching and mentorship programs.
