Since 1995, he has been the founder of Desert Sky Mentoring: Mentoring the Aspiring Spirit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has developed a unique approach to his work, which he calls "transductive analysis." This approach to mentoring emphasizes the importance of nurturing aspirations for creativity and to cultivating a sense of vitality and to enacting the power to break out into new ways of expressing what is most important.
He conducts his work through group exercises for organizations but his work centers on one-on-one sessions with clients. This personalized approach has enabled Dr. Shenkman to impact many lives, helping them to recognize and cultivate their aspirations, and so achieve remarkable success as they pursue what is most important to them. This innovative concept has proven its value over the course of the 30 years Shenkman has offered this work to businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Shenkman earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and religious studies from Dickinson College (1968) and a Doctorate degree in Philosophy from Boston College (1977). In light of his accomplishments, Dickinson College selected Dr. Shenkman as its Alumnus of the Year in 2015.
Dr. Shenkman is an accomplished author with several books on mentoring aspirations in the contexts of leadership, artistic creating, philosophy and mystic expression. His works include "Leader Mentoring: Find, Inspire, and Cultivate Great Leaders," "Into the Open: Mentoring Mystic Aspirations," "Artist Aspiring: Mentoring Creativity in The New Epoch," and "The Concept's Edge: Mentoring Our Prophetic Aspirations," among others. He is currently working on his latest book, "Aspiring, Vitality and Praxis: New Thinking on Creativity in the World of AI."
Looking toward the future, Dr. Shenkman remains dedicated to advancing his work and ensuring its accessibility to those who can benefit the most from it. He attributes much of his success thus far to the aspiring spirit of the people he has mentored and to rigorously studying philosophy which he has continued throughout his life.
Dr. Shenkman has been married to Carol Musrey for more than 25 years. They live in the foothills of Albuquerque, NM where Dr. Shenkman loves to ride his e-bike and take long walks with his canine companion, Beau.
