With 60 years of experience in the energy industry, Mr. Stein established himself as a leader in the field by founding PTS Advance, a staffing and consulting agency that specializes in oil, gas, power, construction and manufacturing. While still involved with PTS Advance, he also devotes much of his time to spreading energy literacy through various books and online publications. Prior to launching PTS Advance, Mr. Stein served as the project manager for the "Jaws" attraction at Universal Studios for several years. He built his reputation in energy and engineering across nearly two decades in project management with Fluor.
Mr. Stein's impressive performance in his field was born of his academic journey. After completing coursework at Santa Monica College, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Northridge in 1964. Mr. Stein is an active member of the Western States Petroleum Association, a reflection of his dedication to staying updated on the latest developments in the energy sector. He attributes his success to extensive knowledge of the field fueled by a passion for spreading energy literacy.
To achieve his mission of improving energy literacy, Mr. Stein has co-authored such books as "Just Green Electricity" and "Energy Made Easy: Helping Citizens Become Energy-Literate." His most recent book, "'Clean' Energy Exploitations: Helping Citizens Understand the Environmental and Humanity Abuses That Support 'Clean' Energy," was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2022. Mr. Stein has contributed op-eds and articles for publications like America Out Loud NEWS, the Oilman Magazine and the California Political Review. He has further provided his insight as an ambassador for energy and infrastructure and a policy advisor on energy literacy to the CO2 Coalition, The Heartland Institute, and the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow.
Outside of his career, Mr. Stein finds balance through fitness and golfing. His goal for the future is to continue engaging members of the press, political figures and the public in conversations about electricity, products made from fossil fuels and energy policy. Mr. Stein's tireless drive to teach people about energy has made him an outspoken figure in the industry, and his eagerness to keep pushing those conversations forward will undoubtedly have a meaningful impact on the future of the field.
