Prior joining Perspectives/IIT Academy, Dr. Salifou was a guest teacher with Kokua Education from 2018 to 2022, where he contributed to various educational programs across multiple schools. From 2017 to 2018, he taught business and entrepreneurship at ASPIRA Business and Finance School in Chicago, imparting essential skills to the next generation of business leaders.
Dr. Salifou's career also includes significant experience in government service. From 2002 to 2009, he worked with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), serving as an executive assistant to the deputy administrator, a special project manager, and special assistant to the chief information officer. These roles allowed him to develop a robust understanding of organizational dynamics and project management.
Education has been paramount in Dr. Salifou's life. A native of West Africa, Dr. Salifou earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from The American University in Cairo, Egypt, in 1999. Six years later, he was awarded an MBA from Strayer University in Washington, D.C. 10 years later, Dr. Salifou earned a PhD in organization and management, with a specialization in project management, from Capella University in Minneapolis.
Dr. Salifou's educational achievements are particularly noteworthy given the challenges he faced growing up in West Africa, where opportunities for higher education were limited. To complete his high school education, he had to relocate to a neighboring country. In fact, there was only one university in his home country, and the government had to seek opportunities for students to study abroad. Dr. Salifou was fortunate enough to be awarded a government scholarship to pursue his education in Egypt and subsequently the United States.
Dr. Salifou's commitment to professional development is evident through his active involvement in industry-related organizations. He is currently the co-chair of the National Postdoctoral Association and a member of the American Management Association. He also has been honored with a National Postdoctoral Association Award.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Salifou is deeply engaged in civic activities. He serves as an election judge in Chicago and volunteers with Equality Illinois, demonstrating his commitment to community service and social justice. He is the author of a scholarly paper titled, "Analysis of the Effectiveness of COSO's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Model on Organization Strategy, Competitive Advantage, and Value: A Qualitative Study," published in 2016.
Dr. Salifou's personal interests include traveling and cooking. Looking ahead, he plans to establish a professional network aimed at fostering discussions about business and education on a global scale.
