Drawing upon more than five decades of expertise in academia, Melanie L. Freese has made strides in improving the wellbeing of students across Long Island, New York. Joining Hofstra University in 1984, she first served as a senior catalog librarian for 15 years before being promoted to assistant dean and chairwoman of technical services of Hofstra's Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library in 1999. She remained in her role until 2001. Concurrently, Ms. Freese has excelled as an associate professor of library services since 1990.
