Known for her ability to handle complex situations, Jenn, who has earned a reputation for being an exceptional problemsolver, has since transitioned from managing all aspects of her business to focusing on strategic operations. Now, she dedicates her efforts to providing her team with the necessary resources, training, software, and equipment to ensure their efficiency. Despite her keen skill set in her area, her initial dream at an early age was to establish her own bakery. Therefore, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management from New Mexico State University in 2005, graduating with the Dean's Award of Excellence, and subsequently completed coursework at Scottsdale Culinary Institute in 2010.
However, amid her passionate pursuit, Jenn's interests unexpectedly expanded into the accounting industry, and she bravely embraced the opportunity to blend her unique fusion of hospitality and accounting expertise and empower fellow business owners. Leading up to the establishment of her business, she first worked to put herself through school as a Medical Biller at Del Valle Physical Therapy. While attending culinary school, she was an Accounts Receivable Specialist at Orange Tree Golf Resort. Upon relocating back to her home state, she became a licensed insurance agent with Farmers Insurance before returning to accounting at a local firm, Accounting & Consulting Group. In all she has achieved, Jenn attributes her success to her faith and perseverance as well as her clients and their positive word-of-mouth of her team and the business.
As a result of her reputation and services, Jenn has been recognized as one of the World's Most Exemplary Women Leaders in Business by World Leaders in 2023 and one of the Top 10 Inspiring Leaders by IE Magazine in 2022. Most recently, Top Shelf Services earned The Bulletin's 2024 Finalists award for Best Accounting Firm and Best Bookkeeping in her community. In addition to her primary role at Top Shelf Services, Jenn holds the title of pro advisor with Elite status at QuickBooks and is a co-founder of The Association, a women's professional development group.
Furthermore, Jenn is a member of the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers (NACPB) and has earned licensure to become a Certified Accounting Paraprofessional, Certified Bookkeeper, and Certified Payroll Specialist. As an expert in her line of work, she has recognized a significant shortage of skilled bookkeepers in the industry to match the surging demand for services; therefore, she is launching a bookkeeping institute aimed at bridging this gap.
Already in the beta stage of coursework development via remote delivery, this institute will offer the necessary education required to become a certified bookkeeper along with a paid internship program for hands-on experience. In the next several years, Jenn anticipates being heavily involved in advancing this educational endeavor and helping both young professionals and the industry as a whole.
