Scheiding with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, David Scheiding celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University in 1964 Mr. Scheiding was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. After undergraduate pilot training in 1966, he performed flying duties as an instructor pilot, a forward air controller and a fighter pilot. During his Air Force career, he flew the T-37, T-38, T/AT/BT-33, T-39, O-2A and F-111D aircraft while compiling over 4800 hours of flying time. Of this total 630 hours were combat time while performing forward air controller (FAC) duties in the O-2A in Vietnam from 1971to 1972. As a Captain he was selected to be the Operation Officer of the largest combat squadron in Vietnam during the Spring Offensive of 1972.

Upon completing his tour in Vietnam, he was assigned to Kelly Air Force Base as a structural engineer for the C-SA fleet for the Air Force. While performing duties as the Lead Structural Engineer on the C-SA fleet, he was selected to participate on the accident board for the C-SA aircraft that crashed on April 4, 197S, in Vietnam, known as "Operation Babylift." Mr. Scheiding co-authored a dissenting accident report to the two-star General accident board president as to the actual cause of the accident, which was accepted by the Air Force Safety Department. In 1976, he was selected to attend the Air Force's Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) at Maxwell AFB in Alabama. Upon completing ACSC in 1977, he was assigned to Cannon AFB to fly the F-lllD aircraft. While at Cannon AFB, he performed duties as the Wing Training Officer, Operations Officer and then Squadron Commander for the F-111D, 523rd Tactical Fighter Squadron from 1982 to 1984. In 1984 he was promoted to Colonel and selected to attend the Air Force's Air War College (AWC). After completing AWC, he was reassigned to Kelly AFB, where he was the Air Force's System Program Manager for the T-37, T-38, O-2A, OV-10, F-102, F-106, F-5 and AT-37. Before retiring in 1989 as a Colonel, he was the Finance Director for the Material Management (MM) Directorate of the San Antonio Air Logistics Center (ALC), where he was responsible for five billion dollars of the Air Force's budget authority to procure spare parts for the Air Force.

Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1989, Mr. Scheiding began his first role as a civilian, leveraging his considerable expertise as an office manager and geotechnical engineer for Chenn Northern/Southwestern Laboratories. In 1992, he founded and ran STC Environmental Consulting Services for eighteen years as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Scheiding had developed his own unique leadership style while in the Air Force called "CAT3", which stands for "Communications, Attitude, Time, Tools, and Training," which worked very effectively in both the military as well as civilian life. He retired from his firm in 2010.

As an expert in his field, in addition to his Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University in 1964, he expanded his professional knowledge by completing a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Denver and an MBA from the University of Utah. Additionally, Mr. Scheiding has become a licensed professional engineer, asbestos consultant, lead consultant and mold consultant in Texas.

Since his retirement, Mr. Scheiding has explored writing and has published multiple books, including "Hank, An Angel Dog", "The Long Return: Should the Military Be Used as a Political Tool?", and "Don't Fly Today When God Speaks: Listen! Warning to Atheists - God Does Exist". All his books are autobiographical and offer reflections upon his time in the military as well as his personal life and faith journey. Looking toward the future, Mr. Scheiding intends to enjoy his retirement.
