COVINGTON, LA, July 10, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dena Lynn Lodato, DVM, MS, DACVS, CCRP, small animal surgeon, medical director and owner of Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge regional issue of Forbes.
A rising leader in the field of veterinary services, Dr. Lodato has accrued 10 years of excellence and currently serves as the owner and medical director of Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation. In her position since 2021, Dr. Lodato specializes in small animal surgery, neurosurgery, wound management, physical rehabilitation, and orthopedics. She also maintains responsibility for seeing new consultations for referred surgical diseases, conducting surgical procedures on animals, and performing hyperbaric oxygen treatments, among a plethora of other tasks. Earlier in her career, Dr. Lodato served as the medical director and small animal surgeon at South Paws Veterinary Specialists between 2015 and 2020, a small animal surgeon and chief of the surgical department at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine from 2013 to 2015, and a small animal surgeon at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in 2013.
A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2015, Dr. Lodato has lent her expertise to written publications, having authored several articles in journals, such as Today's Vet Practice, along with a chapter in multiple editions of "Clinical Veterinary Advisor: Dogs and Cats," published through Elsevier Mosby. In addition, to remain abreast of developments in her field, Dr. Lodato is affiliated with the American Veterinary Medicine Association and the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine.
To prepare for her career, Dr. Lodato pursued a formal education at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, receiving a bachelor's degree in animal science in 2003. She subsequently went on to achieve a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Thereafter, Dr. Lodato completed an internship at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 and a residency at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013, from which she received a Master of Science the same year.
In the coming years, Dr. Lodato endeavors to continue treating patients to the best of her ability. She would also like to expand the scope of medical services offered by her clinical practice.
Dr. Lodato has received a myriad of accolades throughout her career, most recently including the Humane Heart Award from the Humane Society of Louisiana in 2021. Earlier, she was honored with certification as a canine rehabilitation practitioner in 2016 and received the American College of Veterinary Radiologists Senior Student Award in 2008.
