Additionally, he leverages his varied professional experience as an associate minister with Interfaith Temple, president of De Laetsburg Press, curator for the Print Club of Albany, composer of three books of carillon music, curator and founder of the Museum of Prints and Printmaking, and organist for the Wadsworth Lodge 417 Free and Accepted Masons. Due to his vast knowledge, he parlays his expertise to students at Empire State College and the Chautauqua Institution. Over the years, Dr. Semowich honed his skillset through executive and educational positions with the City of Rensselaer, the Albany Center Gallery, Empire State College, Broome County, and the Susquehanna County Historical Society.
An expert in his field, Dr. Semowich holds a Bachelor of Arts in humanities and fine arts from Binghamton University, a Master of Fine Arts in painting and sculpture from The Catholic University of America, and a PhD in art history from International College in Los Angeles. In the ensuing years, he also received a certificate in auctioneering from Emporium Auction School and a certificate in interfaith ministry through the New Seminary for Interfaith Studies. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Semowich has aligned himself with the Wadsworth 417 Masonic Lodge, the Society of American Graphic Artists, the Eastern New York Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the Landmark Society of Broome Co., and the City of Albany Strategic Planning Committee for the Arts.
In conjunction with his work, Dr. Semowich has contributed to his community through board positions with the Rensselaer City Arts Council, the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, the Albany-Tula Alliance, the New York Area Children's Art Exhibit, the American Guild of Organists, the City of Albany, and the Albany City Carillon. Due to his vast knowledge and experience, he authored the books "American Furniture Craftsman Working Prior to 1920, An Annotated Bibliography," "A History of Interfaith," "Rensselaer" (Acadia Press), and an article for the Hudson River Valley Review.
He has co-edited such works as "Dorothy Lathrop – A Centenary Celebration" and "William Buttre: Furniture History." Likewise, Dr. Semowich has been honored with the First Prize at the Regina Handbell Ringers Composition Contest, the Cogswell and Distinguished Member Awards through Print Club Albany, and the Cornerstone Award through the Cornerstone Staff of the Albany Masonic.
