Additionally, he built an innovative system for 5G simulation, allowing users to operate a complete 5G network on the cloud without needing any traditional wireless test environments. Prior to his current position, Dr. Takla was a fellow in wireless system engineering at Verizon from 2019 to 2023, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategic direction in wireless systems engineering.
An expert in 5G technology and autonomous vehicles, Dr. Takla served as Verizon's 5G ecosystem autonomous vehicle lead architect in 2019. Before joining Verizon, Dr. Takla led the LTE ENB Performance Management Team at Alcatel-Lucent from 2014 to 2015 and was involved in light radio transport and security as a technical and program leader from 2012 to 2013. His tenure at Alcatel-Lucent began as a technical manager from 1999 to 2012 after serving as a member of technical staff at AT&T Bell Labs from 1993 until 1999. Dr. Takla began his professional journey with a year-long postdoctoral fellowship at Philips Innovation Labs in 1992.

He earned a PhD in electrical and electronics engineering from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1991 after completing his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 1988.
