David E. Urso, PsyD Celebrated for Dedication to the Federal Government

Dr. David Urso retired from the U.S. Treasury Department

In the coming years, he intends to give back to his community by preserving history through the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, July 18, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Urso has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After dropping out of high school at 17 years old, Dr. Urso moved from Chicago to Colorado with his family before enlisting in the military. Upon returning from Vietnam, he obtained his GED and began working for the federal government. At the time, special agents required a college degree, so he enrolled at the University of Colorado. Later, he realized that college was not for him and returned to working for the government. Over the years, Dr. Urso studied every night for the Treasury Enforcement Agent Exam. Between his extensive studies and an additional 10-point bump for being a veteran, he scored 108.

Throughout his career, Dr. Urso expanded his professional knowledge, earning a PsyD in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and completing a residency through Harvard University and the University of Chicago. For 20 years, he worked as a special agent and doctor for the U.S. Treasury Department. In addition to working in drug enforcement, Dr. Urso went undercover as a Jewish-Canadian airplane broker who owned a fleet of aircraft and worked inside the Pablo Escobar Organization.

Outside of his work, Dr. Urso has served as vice president of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in fulfilling his girlfriend's dying wish to return to school. Other standout moments include responding to emergencies during the 9/11 attacks and gaining recognition from FEMA and the U.S. Public Health Service. Additionally, Dr. Urso came up with the idea of using trains for city evacuations and wrote about it before Hurricane Katrina. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his drive. In the coming years, he intends to give back to his community by preserving history through the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. Currently, Dr. Urso is collecting old police badges, most of which are from the 1800s.
