Lauded for her own writing, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe was first recognized as a two-time state top ten finalist in Ohio's Power of the Pen and then in 2018 for delivering her TEDx Talk, "A Fall Does Not Define You, How You Rise Will Redefine You," further establishing her as a preeminent voice in her field. Mrs. Baggott-Rowe has authored an internationally bestselling personal essay, "Serenity," and won Inked in Gray's 2022 Best Short Story of the Year Anthology Contest for disabled/marginalized writers, and her piece, "What Remains," was featured in the annual anthology "We Deserve to Exist." She has also contributed numerous other short stories to multiple publications, winning multiple awards for writing that often centers on liminal spaces with themes of resistance and resilience. Mrs. Baggott-Rowe has significantly contributed to literature and education in this sector, particularly as a professional writer, public speaker, and teacher. She also conducts a biannual workshop called "Hero's Journey," designed for individuals who feel overwhelmed about writing, editing, and publishing their books. The workshop can be completed in six months, with the option for synchronous or asynchronous participation. Mrs. Baggott-Rowe also has a social media presence focused on writing, living chronically disabled, and how her husband (Alex Baggott-Rowe) fulfills both the roles of husband and caregiver in a sustainable, interabled relationship.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe found success as a faculty aide at Harvard Extension School from 2022 to 2023 as an investigative reporter on "In Light of All Darkness: Inside the Polly Klaas Kidnapping and the Search for America's Child" by Kim Cross. She used her background in Psychology as well as her writing and editing skills to interpret primary sources about the case and help ensure that the information in the book was factually accurate. Besides her writing background, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe worked in other fields, including as an Irish musician, winning national medals for mandolin, rhythm guitar, singing, lilting, and bodhran accompaniment that qualified her for the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil to compete. For a short stint, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe worked and taught with the Cirque du Soleil base in Seattle (SANCA). With the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe also worked full-time as a Surge Strike Team Case Investigator, assisting with gathering community resources for the Ohio Department of Health from 2020 to 2021.
Highly educated, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Neuroscience and Classics from The Ohio State University in 2015. Subsequently, she received a Master of Arts in Psychology from Xavier University in 2018 and a Master of Liberal Arts in Creative Writing and Literature from Harvard Extension School in 2024. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Mrs. Baggott-Rowe notably received the Alkire Top Researcher Scholarship from The Ohio State University for excellence in scientific discovery.
Mrs. Baggott-Rowe is heavily engaged in community and civic initiatives. She is accomplished in competitive chess and has been involved with the Scholastic Women's Chess Initiative at the Marshall Chess Club since 2021, studying under the tutelage of female GM Irina Krush. Mrs. Baggott-Rowe is also active with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, where she previously participated in the Walk to Cure from 1999 to 2009 and was a youth ambassador between 1999 and 2007. She is most proud of being a champion for individuals within the disabled and chronically ill communities, striving to destigmatize discussions around disability and promote thriving through adversity.
Mrs. Baggott-Rowe's achievements have been recognized through various awards, including the Swarthmore Book Award in 2009 and the Judith Wood Memorial Prize from Harvard University in 2024, which is given to students who have overcome overwhelming disabilities and medical setbacks during their academic careers. At present, Mrs. Baggott Rowe has 12 autoimmune illnesses and is a survivor of two separate assaults. The U.S. Chess Federation also ranked her among the top 100 female competitive chess players in the United States from 2021 to the present.
Mrs. Baggott-Rowe envisions continued success in creating platforms for collaboration with experts in her field and introducing them in educational settings. She also plans to continue publishing short stories and essays alongside long form fiction, which addresses climate change and ableism through the stories of teens with terminal illnesses living on a terminal planet.
